The Market Car Park on Princess Street is the closest to Chester Cathedral and has eight disabled parking spaces available. Please note: the ‘Free after Three’ parking scheme has now ended.
On the day
Two hours before the ceremony, you will be able to sign in at the Cathedral and collect your gown. The Nave (where the ceremony will be taking place within the Cathedral) will not be open until 6:30pm, this is due to Evensong taking place. Refreshments will be served in the Refectory from 6pm. If you are planning to leave the Cathedral after you have been gowned, please ensure you are back by 6:15pm at the latest.
Half an hour before the ceremony (6:30pm)
Half and hour before the ceremony is due to start, you will be asked to take your seat in the Nave. Please ensure that you sit in your allocated seat, to ensure you are in the correct order for your name being called out. Name cards will be provided and College staff will be on hand to direct you.
We ask that your guests begin taking their seats from 6:30-6:45pm.
Fifteen minutes before the ceremony (6:45pm)
College staff will double check that all students are sitting in the correct seat.
During the ceremony
Staff will process into the Nave. When everyone is seated, there will be welcome speeches from the Vice Dean of the Cathedral, and the Principal and Chief Executive of Cheshire College – South & West, Dhesi. This will be followed by a speech from our guest speaker.
When this is complete, presentation of the awards will begin. A representative from the College will guide you from your row to the side of the stage, and when your name is called out, you should cross the stage and shake hands with the guest speaker, whilst pausing for a photograph. After you exit the stage, you will be given your certificate. You should then walk to the back of the Cathedral along the left side and back down the centre aisle of the Nave to your seat. You can then enjoy the rest of the ceremony!
Once the ceremony has ended, there will be an opportunity to spend time with your tutors and guests.
Before you leave, please ensure you have returned your gown to Ede & Ravenscroft in the Cloister room.
Information on the ceremony will also be available at ccsw.ac.uk
